ENews – We Have Been Busy…

May 7, 2026
We sold out the lawn signs but, already, we have more!

Lots going on in Kanata North… but knock on wood, it continues to be quiet on the Greenspace.   Let’s enjoy that.  Peace and quiet just in time for Mother’s Day.   Wishing all the moms, grandmothers, stepmoms and mother figures of every kind a special moment on Sunday!

This week we are hearing of coring hole remnants on Hole 14  and talk on Engage Ottawa Kanata Lakes (check out the recently updated Environmental update on the first page) by the proponents about more testing in a few months.   Just to be ready, in the event it proceeds, we are writing the City staff to press the developers for a hardier and more accurate reporting process than what occurred in February and March along Holes 6, 7, 8 and 9.   Simply put, what we read should match what we see and hear.

We have been busy on another front too. The KGPC along with our sister community associations in Kanata North, the KBCA and the KLCA, have been working on a new initiative for the past few weeks.   We cannot repeat often enough… we continue to remain positive that there is a very green future ahead for the Kanata Lakes Greenspace land.  All to say, we hope it will be ready to present to you our supporters, our community and the city more broadly in the not too distant future.   Until then,  get out and enjoy it all!

Our Community Won’t Back Down – We Want Provincial Intervention

It’s time for WEEK 2 of our online pressure campaign

  1. Share a photo or video from one of the community rallies or the lawn sign campaign; we’re posting them on our Facebook and Instagram. accounts.
  2. Tag the Premier @FordNation, Tag the Mayor @SutcliffeOttawa
  3. Text (1-647-612-3673) or Email (premier@ontario.ca) Premier Ford a short message along with a photo from one of the rallies or a photo of a lawn sign.

Lawns Signs…make you glad!

Our NEW LAWN SIGNS are sprouting up all over the neighbourhood.  New messages abound and each purchase helps support the work we’re doing.  Right now, it is covering off anticipated costs from the recent OLT hearing and the videos we have recently produced just to name two examples.

We have canvassers going door to door and they’re prepared to answer a lot of your questions.   You can order a sign right on the spot too!  If you miss them, check out our FAQs online.

Order Yours Today!  Signs get delivered to your front lawn as quick as we can get to them.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Coyote Update …makes you sad

We heard back this week from the great people at the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative (CWHC) who so kindly offered to help us identify a cause to the sudden rash of coyote deaths we have been seeing on the Greenspace.   Unfortunately, just yesterday, we heard back that the refrigerated remains of Coyote #3 were lost in transit to the CWHC in Guelph.   After two weeks of searching, they have now closed the file.

The CWHC has offered to assist us in the future should we discover another deceased coyote.  Please make us aware on FB or Instagram or drop us an email should you find one.  There are many of you who want to understand this quite unprecedented string of deaths.  We’re willing to help.

And with that, we wrap up our eNews for this week.

Remember,  always better together!

Take good care,

Barbara
