Let’s hope all our Kanata creatures great and small are out and about enjoying the arrival of some spring temperatures and a bit of warmer weather.

We hope you’re enjoying some HOPPING around with friends and family this weekend…
And let’s hope all our Kanata creatures great and small are out and about enjoying the arrival of some spring temperatures and a bit of warmer weather. We didn’t get the heavy rains predicted for Saturday, but we still need some help though to wash away the winter muck and bring on the green that we all love. Patience!
WSP Independent Review of the Phase 1 and 2 ESA studies
Now that Engage Ottawa Kanata Lakes is catching up there is some good reading on there. The above report (a doozy…8 pages of bullet points) soundly criticizes (in polite professional language, of course) the original Phase 1 and 2 studies that were filed by ClubLink with its development application. We are pleased that its author is calling for a redo and expansion of much of the work originally filed.
Our environmental engineer Stephen Quigley P.Eng. and soil scientist Dr. Heather McNairn Ph.D. previously signaled these many shortcomings with the city and the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT). Until then, the city maintains that testing and monitoring continues where soil is being disturbed.
Under the Project tab you will find the weekly updates from Minto about the ongoing work. The latest Project Update March 27 includes a map. Sadly, the depth and quality of explanation have not improved over the past month. Today’s case in point… what is this? It could be a tee box on a Fred Flintstone golf course or a gravel mesa. Our best guess, a test pile.
According to Engage Ottawa, Minto will be clearing out its testing site the week of April 20. Let’s see what that brings!
Between now and then…more show and tell. This structure appeared on the 9th hole this week. Calling all engineers – is this part of an Exfiltration Manhole System? We really should not have to be guessing at all of this. We’ll be sending our eNews this week to kanatalakes@ottawa.ca in order to get some answers. We suggest you send your questions in too.

- Inspection costs and available services
Meeting Date: Wednesday, April 15, 2026
Meeting Time: 7:30pm

There will be a Q&A opportunity after the presentation. See you there!
Calling all engineers. There’s a meeting date.
In our last eNews we reached out to engineers wishing to talk in depth about the ongoing re-engineering of the KGC lands. There is a meeting planned for this coming Saturday, April 11. If you’re interested in joining, reach out by email to doug_slone@hotmail.com
Update: Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) – ClubLink Motion for Costs
We remind you that ClubLink chose to pursue a cost award ($60,000 plus legal fees) for their two very short half day appearances (in November and January) in pursuit of Draft Subdivision Plan approval at the OLT. The deadline for responses to their initial motion was last Monday, March 30. Here are the links for the individual responses by the KGPC [Cost Submissions of KGPC] and the City of Ottawa [City of Ottawa Affidavit of Stream Shen] [City of Ottawa Notice of Response to Motion]. ClubLink has until April 13 to respond following which the matter will go to the Tribunal for consideration. We will report back to you as it proceeds.
We do appreciate the many donations we have received over the past months particularly given these latest ClubLink tactics hanging over our heads. We are hopeful that reasoned heads will prevail at the OLT. But we cannot be afraid to fight for what we know is right.

In the meantime, your donation will help get us to where we want to go.

And we’ve got something coming for you… A NEW LAWN SIGN!
In response to overwhelming requests, and just in time for Spring, the KGPC is relaunching our Lawn Sign campaign. There are only a few originals left… they’re almost 7 years old now! Cracked and faded… but still shouting out our message!
We’re going to get them some fresh, new help. So, get ready.
NEW SIGNS. NEW MESSAGES. JUST IN TIME FOR THE NEXT RALLY!
We’ll be back in touch soon with more information including the next RALLY date! And thanks again to our community organizers for another great day and turnout last Sunday. Here are some great photos!

Thanks, as always, for your continued support.
We’re better together!
