Today, the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) dismissed the City of Ottawa application for leave to appeal in the matter of the ClubLink plan to violate the 40% Agreement and develop the Kanata Lakes Golf Club lands.

The Kanata Greenspace Protection Coalition (KGPC) is disappointed with this decision, and we know our thousands of supporters are too.  We do want to thank each of our donors for contributing to ensure that the KGPC was able to represent our community and give every chance to the 40% Agreement.

This decision now closes this six-year legal defence.  What is next?  The KGPC will review with our experts all remaining options and next steps.   We will be back to you with that update in the coming month or so.

ClubLink is still at it…

Last week we were notified by ClubLink that they intend to return to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) to seek a final order on the OLT’s 2022 decision in their favour.  The critical issue – they still do not have agreement with the City of Ottawa on the 190 plus design and engineering clauses that the panel ordered be addressed.  Most important, there is no agreement on the critical stormwater management plan.

While we have been in touch with Councillor Cathy Curry on this news, she has no word from city staff yet.  We will be in touch when we have more to report.

In the meantime, enjoy the most colourful season of the year and remember, we are STILL better together!

Take good care,

Barbara
